Bush Sunflower

You'll have blooms in no time with this rough-textured perennial. Bush Sunflower blooms from April to October, and the blooms come quickly. My first flower made an appearance less than 30 days after I planted it. This very drought-tolerant Texas native does fine in sandy or heavy clay soils. The short but bushy plants do even better in good soil. Butterflies love the nectar, and birds love the seeds. It is a food source for the Bordered Patch caterpillas. Flowers are from 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Don't give it too much water! It grows  best when left alone.
