This hardy, long-lived perennial is trouble-free. Its flowers have the longest bloom time of any aster, so your garden will be full of lavender-blue color throughout summer and into fall. Use them for cut flowers or to attract butterflies. Texas heat doesn't bother them. Mass them in a xeriscape garden, a mixed border or matched with shrubs, bulbs or other perennials. Like most perennials, Frikarti aster doesn't like to sit in water, so make sure drainage is adequate. --Rick R.
